FIVE student-beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in Zamboanga Peninsula have finished college with honors, one Magna Cum Laude and four Cum Laude.
The students were among the 314 4Ps beneficiaries who graduated college for school year 2016-2017 in the region, according to Heidi Faith Cruz, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regional focal person for the Expanded Student’s Grant in aid Program for Poverty Alleviation (ESGPPA).
Jaymarnel Quiapo, graduated Magna Cum Laude, while Meldie Joy Casayas, Jesselle Buen, Jaricklyn Villaganas, and Bobby Jeric Perdraza, finished Cum Laude.
Cruz said Buen graduated in Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) and all the four others finished Bachelor of Science in Education (BSED) at the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) in the city.
The 4Ps student-beneficiaries have availed of the EGSPPA after they passed the thorough screening conducted by the DSWD. Each of the student-beneficiaries received P30,000 scholarship fund.
Of the P30,000 fund, P20,000 is for the allowance and books expenses of the student and the remaining P10,000 as tuition fee.
The 314 student-beneficiaries of 4Ps graduated in the following schools: Jose Rizal Memorial State University in Zamboanga del Norte, 116, WMSU in Zamboanga City, 96, Josephina H. Cerilles State College in Zamboanga del Sur, 48, Zamboanga City Polytechnic State College, 28, and Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology, 26. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
