MASANTOL -- One of the most sought-after original Philippine music (OPM) bands in the country rocked Masantoleños to end the month-long activities set for the town fiesta.
Dubbed as “Masantol’s End of Summer Party,” a dozen local bands performed before the Masantoleño crowd a diverse genre of music.
Some of the homegrown and rising bands, who joined the party were KM 54, Jaycee and Superfriends, Sweet Chills and Attorney’s Agent who performed reggae, alternative and pop rock songs.
The night was highlighted by the performance of Parokya ni Edgar which performed some of their hit songs from the 90’s and 2000’s.
Aside from Parokya ni Edgar’s original songs, the band also performed fellow OPM band Moonstar 88’s hit single “Torete” as courtesy to its lead guitarist who joined vocalist Chito Miranda in his performance.
Mayor Danilo Guintu, who spearheaded the whole event, said that the concert is just one of fundraising activities set by the local government for this year’s town fiesta.
He said that ticket sales from the event will be given to identified beneficiaries from the indigent communities in the town.
Despite being the first major concert organized in the town, Guintu together with Police Chief Inspector Julius Javier, assured the safety of all attendees.
Javier said that the local police was on full force and was augmented by personnel of the Pampanga Police Provincial Office and Special Weapons And Tactics team.
