Monday, May 22, 2017

MISAMIS Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano directed his staff to ensure that President Rodrigo Duterte’s newly signed executive order banning smoking in public places be strictly implemented within the Capitol premises.

Capitol spokesperson Nicole Managbanag said the governor is set to issue his own executive order directing Capitol workers to avoid smoking around the Capitol compound except in designated areas.

Managbanag said there will be two designated areas in the Capitol where smoking is allowed, one at the back and the other in a yet to be identified area within the Capitol grounds.

She said stipulated in the governor's memorandum will be the penalties that will be meted out for Capitol employees who will be caught violating the no-smoking policy.

President Rodrigo Duterte signed on Thursday, May 18, Executive Order 26 which bans smoking in public places nationwide.

"Bisan si Governor Emano wala nanigarilyo, (Even Governor Emano does not smoke)," Managbanag said.
